With more and more people wanting to maintain their healthy and sporty lifestyle, even during holidays and weekends away, XXL Nutrition has made a groundbreaking move in the hotel industry. In partnership with Van der Valk Hotel Leusden, XXL Nutrution has started a pilot where the hotel integrates the sports nutrition brand's protein powders into their culinary offerings. This collaboration now allows hotel guests to choose healthy and protein-rich options, such as shakes, icecoffees and smoothies, during their stay.
The pilot with Van der Valk Hotel Leusen marks a new phase for XXL Nutrition. Joost Konings, International Sales Manager B2B at XXL Nutrition, emphasises the importance of this collaboration: "Hotels are seeing more and more guests who are conscious about their health and nutrition, even when they are away from home. By using our protein powders in their kitchens, hotels can respond to this need and offer their guests a healthier alternative."
XXL Nutrition's products, including the popular proticchinos (a combination of protein shake and espresso), are already a success in several other catering establishments such as beach bars. Konings added: "We notice that more and more people want to be able to enjoy their daily dose of protein even on holiday or during an outing. This pilot shows that this is quite possible, without making concessions on taste or experience."
René van der Zel, founder of XXL Nutrition, sees the partnership with hotels as a logical step in expanding the brand to a wider audience. "Sports nutrition is not just about supporting athletes; it promotes a healthy lifestyle for everyone, wherever they are," said Van der Zel. "By partnering with hotels, we can reach a new, fast-growing target group and inspire them to make healthy choices even when they are travelling."
The pilot with Van der Valk Hotel Leusen has shown that there is significant demand for healthy options in hotels. As well as offering protein-rich drinks, the hotel is also considering replacing unhealthy snacks with healthier alternatives from XXL Nutrition in meeting rooms and vending machines. Konings sees great potential in this: "In fact, we are doing nothing but being present where our primary target group - athletes - is. This pilot shows that we can have a positive impact on how people experience their diet, even outside their daily routine."
The results of the pilot are promising, and XXL Nutrition is looking forward to further rolling out this concept to other hotels and catering outlets. The interest is already there: several other hotels and even beach bars have expressed interest in offering XXL Nutrition's high-protein products. Konings concludes, "We see a clear trend in which consumers are increasingly conscious of their diet, no matter where they are. This pilot proves that there is a market for healthy sports nutrition in the hotel industry. We look forward to expanding this line further and helping even more people maintain their healthy lifestyles wherever they go."
With this pilot, XXL Nutrition is taking an important step towards wider adoption of sports nutrition, not only in gyms, but also in the daily lives of travellers and holidaymakers. The company continues to innovate, constantly looking for new ways to bring together health and convenience, with the aim of making sports nutrition more accessible to all.
