Dealing with difficult stains: A hotel guide to unavoidable accidents

Whether you run a luxury resort or a cosy boutique hotel, one thing is certain: stains are inevitable. From the eager guest spilling his red wine to the little one melting a chocolate bar on the sheet, every hotel faces challenges. Here is a quick guide to dealing with some of the most common stains in the hotel industry.

A classic culprit! Treat this stain as soon as possible.

First dab the stain gently with a clean, dry cloth to get as much as possible

Sprinkle with salt to absorb remaining moisture.
Rinse with cold water and then treat with a mixture of dishwashing detergent and hydrogen peroxide before washing.

Foundation and lipstick in particular can be tricky.

Dab a cotton pad in alcohol and gently rub the stain.
For stubborn stains, use a drop of liquid detergent directly on the stain and let it soak in for a while before washing.

Apply a mixture of liquid detergent and water, soak and rinse again. Repeat if necessary before washing.
