On Wednesday 27 November, the WestCord WTC Hotel in Leeuwarden will be the vibrant setting for Industry Fair 2024, the annual networking event of NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. More than a hundred (inter)national companies will meet over a thousand passionate students there. The Industry Fair is the place where young talent and leading employers from the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry meet.
The Industry Fair is organised by the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden, Leisure & Events Management and Tourism Management programmes of NHL Stenden. During this event, students can be inspired by companies such as Accor, Hilton, IHG - Intercontinental Hotels Group, Landal GreenParks and RAI Amsterdam, as well as regional players such as De Krim Texel and WestCord Hotels. There will also be inspiring workshops and speed dates, in which students will have a unique opportunity to get to know companies better during short, personal conversations. In this way, they discover their career opportunities in an accessible way and make valuable contacts.
New to the programme is the Tourism Trend Talk, where students will discover the latest trends and developments in the tourism sector. Led by Nicholas Hall (Digital Tourism Think Tank), experts such as Bernadett Papp (ETFI), Chris Knaap (ANVR) and Boue Kors (Visit Friesland) will discuss future-proofing tourism destinations. These insights will help students develop four scenarios for their semester assignment: a strategic plan for Munich's Destination Management Organisation.
The Industry Fair responds to the growing demand from companies for young talent. Through pitches, speed dates and networking, students make valuable contacts that give their careers a flying start.
"The Industry Fair is the place where companies meet future talent and where students discover opportunities for internships and careers, both nationally and internationally," said Marco ten Hoor, academy director Hotel Management School Leeuwarden. "The event underlines that hospitality knows no borders and how essential international education is for connecting talent with a global industry. Together, we are building the future of hospitality, leisure and tourism."
