Frankfurt - Century-old folk festivals

Discover Frankfurt's spring traditions, including Dippemess, the region's largest and oldest folk festival, which lasts until 14 April. The festival owes its name to a 14th-century pot market and today offers exciting attractions and traditional food and beer. Spring also sees the start of the season of Frankfurt's Grie Soß (Green Sauce). A local speciality made from seven specific spices, it is served with eggs and potatoes.

The warmer weather at this time of year also invites boat tours of the city's canals; Copenhagen has a wide range of traditional canal boats, solar-powered boats and kayaks. Copenhagen's harbour waters are clean enough for swimming, so locals like to take a dip in Nordhavn or Islands Brygge, two of Copenhagen's most popular public swimming spots.
