MeetingReview will announce the winners of the Province Awards 2025 on 1 September each year. This announcement includes both intimate meeting venues and large event venues and is based on guest reviews.
But it's not just about the reviews themselves. How actively venues ask their guests for a review also plays into the rankings. This creates a transparent points system that automatically determines the winners. Marco Kole, initiator of the platform, says: "Venues wait anxiously every year to see who scores the most points and wins the prize. The list is now known, and the winners will receive a nice plaque in the mail this month." And there are quite a few, as in each province there are prizes for the top three in five different categories, from small to large. The winners may call themselves the best for a year, and they make clever use of that in their communications. Robert Spakman, co-initiator of MeetingReview, explains: "A good review score is super important for people looking for a venue for a meeting or event. If you are also the best, you can use that perfectly on your venue, in offers, on your website, and of course on social media like LinkedIn and Instagram. Winning an award gives bookers extra confidence."
MeetingReview has been active in the meeting and event industry for more than 10 years and sees the number of reviews growing every year. Robert Spakman added: "Last year, we received 12,751 reviews on the platform, some 8% more than the year before. We are happy with this growth. Yet we see that provinces such as Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Zeeland and Flevoland are still lagging a bit behind, and we hope they too will start collecting more reviews. Of the more than 5,000 sites with a listing, the province of Utrecht is the most active: there are 596 sites there, followed by North Brabant with 630 sites. In total, over 56,000 reviews have now been written on MeetingReview."
