Basecamp eco-resorts attracts ex-CMO of Booking.com, Pepijn Rijvers, as investor and Growth Coach

Building together a network of Basecamps worldwide

Basecamp aims to make the world a more beautiful place by creating places we want to be. Environmentally conscious holidaymakers will find peace, space and like-minded people at Basecamp's parks. Pepijn Rijvers, former Booking.com top executive and expert in sustainable development, sees opportunities for this type of unique eco-resorts, Basecamp's vision and the global potential of the concept. Therefore, he joins as an investor and will help the team as Growth Coach to further expand Basecamp eco-resorts. Small-scale oases where design, hospitality, sustainability and the ambition to be self-sufficient are key. Basecamp was founded three years ago by a group of friendly entrepreneurs with a dream and has since grown into a successful profitable business with a clear vision for the future.

Basecamps: eco-resorts in the world's most beautiful locations

Bascamp shows that eco-tourism can be both climate-positive and profitable. Since its launch three years ago, the company has seen turnover grow from zero to more than 10 million euros by 2023. After opening the first location in IJmuiden, two more Basecamp resorts are now in operation, one hidden in the greenery of Amsterdam-West and a beautiful park in Sardinia. In the coming years, four more Basecamps will arise in beautiful natural surroundings on Bali, another one on Sardinia, in Tanzania and on Mafia Island: resorts that are all brimming with energy, creativity and playfulness. Developed and built by 'Basecampers' who embrace the shared sustainable mission and strive together to leave the smallest possible ecological footprint. Initial growth was funded by the entrepreneurs themselves. They were later joined by investors and buyers of cottages at the parks. All people who not only believe in the unique concept, but also put forward their own valuable ideas and vision.

"The demand for unique experiences has skyrocketed in recent years. Sustainability, connecting with each other and with the world we live in is uniquely fulfilled by Basecamp in much sought-after locations. Truly a promising concept with a super fun team!"
Pepijn Rijvers, Growth Coach at Bascamp eco-resorts

All Basecamps look completely different. The sustainable holiday parks consist of a playful mix of tiny houses and cabins, where you can recreate, work and where companies organise events. Despite Basecamp's focus on sustainability and self-sufficiency, this does not detract from a high level of comfort, convenience and hospitality.

This is Basecamp: the tourism of the future

Basecamp resorts guarantee a pleasant stay with a heart for nature. Many guests value sustainability. In addition to comfort and convenience, staying overnight is even nicer when you know that consideration is given to the impact a stay has on the climate. Basecamp sees itself as a living lab for developing new forms of sustainable and regenerative living and working. It is the only holiday park whose core ambition is to be self-sufficient.
