Apollo Reizen has already sold more than 70 per cent of holidays in July and as many as 8 out of 10 people who have booked a holiday this summer are going to a Greek city or island.
Summer holidays are fast approaching and this is reflected in travel sales. After a warm spring, Apollo Reizen reports that sales are now back in full swing - the tour operator has sold a total of 7 out of 10 holidays in July.
- If you have the opportunity to travel at short notice, you can still score some great last minutes, but if you are dreaming of the amazing atmosphere of the Mediterranean in July, you should not wait too long. "We are finding that the desire to travel is seriously increasing and the most popular hotels and flights are filling up fast," says Robbin de Waal, press officer at Apollo Reizen.
If Greece is at the top of your wish list, you will have to plan soon. The popular holiday destination is proving to be a big favourite among both families and those travelling without children this summer. A whopping 80% of travellers who booked a holiday with Apollo travel this summer are leaving for a Greek city or island - and topping the list are the towns of Parga and Sivota, followed by Islands of Rhodes and Crete.
Spain's Fuerteventura is also one of the most popular destinations this summer - especially among active travellers. Here, more than 60 per cent of the tour operator's guests will stay at Apollo Sports' flagship Playitas Resort this summer. Apollo's sports hotels in Greece have also been among the most booked destinations this summer - among adult couples, groups of friends, single travellers and families.
- One of the clearest travel trends this summer is that the Dutch want to get more out of their holidays than sun and sea. For some, that means fun sporting activities with the family or sports alone, while for others it is about discovering new holiday cities and islands. "This summer, we just want to fill our suitcases with experiences," explains de Waal.
