Today, The Social Hub Glasgow opens: the debut of the leading hybrid hospitality concept in the UK. This is the Amsterdam-based company's 18th property with existing locations in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. The new hub, with 494 rooms spread across 20,000 square metres, is designed to bring together, inspire and connect creative minds through its various unique public spaces. Targeting a diverse community, including travellers, business professionals, students and the local community, the hotel is known for its emphasis on fostering meaningful connections.
Founded by entrepreneur Charlie MacGregor, from Edinburgh, Scotland, The Social Hub argues that a better society is created when people with vision and talent from diverse backgrounds come together. "I am super proud to launch The Social Hub in the country where I grew up and where I started my professional career. Here in the UK, I gained hands-on experience and got the initial inspiration for a hospitality brand that has grown into what The Social Hub is today. As a pioneer in the hybrid hospitality industry, I am excited to be back home and see the impact that the Glasgow Hub's activities and public spaces are going to have on the community. It's a place that blurs the boundaries of traditional hospitality , as we work every day towards our ambition of creating a better society together with everyone who walks through our doors, says Charlie.
The company is on a mission to bring positive change to the various communities in which they operate. To this end, they create dedicated spaces that foster encounters between local residents and business travellers, for example. The new location of the unique and award-winning hybrid hospitality concept includes, as you would expect from The Social Hub: hotel rooms, student rooms, 'long-stay' rooms and various communal spaces such as co-working facilities, meeting rooms, a community kitchen, a restaurant, a bar and a gym.
With an investment of more than £90 million and the commitment of more than 80 local staff, the much-anticipated new property is located in Merchant City, one of Glasgow's most prestigious and trendy neighbourhoods. Known for its pubs in cobbled streets and vibrant music scene, the district is the ideal base for exploring the historic city and surrounding region. The newly built hub is 20,000 square metres and has 494 rooms. The spaces have been created and designed to bring together and inspire creative minds.
