Mews, the leading hospitality cloud, is an official sponsor of Hotelschool The Hague's Sustainable Hospitality Challenge, an initiative that aims to promote the development of eco-friendly hospitality.
The Sustainable Hospitality Challenge (SHC) is now 10 years old and has become a global knowledge initiative. It targets forward-looking students around the world and aims to encourage and create investment in innovative, sustainable solutions that have a tangible impact on the industry.
"It is a privilege to contribute to an event that has such an important message and it is heartening to see such passionate and brilliant engagement with the future generation of hospitality professionals," said Matt Welle, CEO of Mews. "I can't wait to see what ideas the challenge generates."
SHC is the biggest challenge for students in the hospitality industry. Students from more than 75 of the world's top universities present products and solutions to a 'Shark Tank' of industry leaders, including those from UN Tourism, Accor, Hilton and Marriott.
"We are incredibly excited that Mews is a sponsor of the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge," said Paul Griep, director of Alumni & Industry Relations at Hotelschool The Hague and founder of SHC. "Mews brings a fresh and innovative perspective to the challenge with their expertise in hospitality technology. Their commitment to sustainability will inspire our students to think outside the box and discover new ways of innovation in hospitality. Their involvement not only increases the prestige of the challenge, but also broadens the horizons of possible sustainable solutions in our industry."
Hotelschool The Hague, the proud founder of the Sustainable Hospitality Challenge, provides high-quality education and pioneering research in the field of international hospitality management, with a focus on sustainability transformation and digitalisation. The ultimate goal is to develop students into sought-after hospitality graduates who excel in leadership roles around the world.
The sponsorship is one of Mews' many actions advocating for more environmentally conscious travel. Thanks to a unique collaboration and integration with Hotels for Trees, more than 40,000 trees have been planted due to skipping housekeeping, saving 20,000 hours of housekeeping. Mews has also published many materials to encourage hoteliers to work more sustainably, including a guide to the Green Hotel of the Future and a special internal committee on climate action.
