Introduction FreshAir detector in the Netherlands

The FreshAir detector, the only technology available for detecting tobacco and marijuana smoke, is now available in the Netherlands, the first country in Europe.New Hampshire-based manufacturer FreshAir USA and Green Bull Company B.V. are jointly launching the innovative detector, developed and manufactured in America. The detector and associated monitoring system will be available from 28 June next.

The FreshAir detector is equipped with the advanced PolySens® sensor, which is capable of detecting the specific molecules of tobacco and marijuana smoke. Unlike conventional smoke detectors, which use light or radiation to detect general particles (such as dust, smoke, vapour, etc.), the FreshAir detector only sends a discrete notification to the monitoring system when actual smoking occurs.

FreshAir's patented PolySens® sensors are the result of more than 20 years of research and development by founder Joe BelBruno, professor of chemistry at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA. This sensor offers hoteliers a solution to stop unauthorised smoking early, preventing damage and protecting the health of guests and employees.

Unauthorised smoking in hotel rooms is a long-standing problem that unfortunately occurs regularly. Locating the room in which the incident occurs is a major challenge once there are complaints about smoky smells or the distinctive odour of weed. Moreover, it is common for housekeeping to report in the morning that smoking has occurred after the guest has already checked out. This leads to complaints about smoking guests, unpleasant-smelling rooms, extra cleaning and rooms being taken out of service. These costs and lost revenue cannot be recovered in most cases.

This is now a thing of the past thanks to FreshAir's detectors and monitoring system. As soon as smoke is detected, the detector immediately sends a push message via Wi-Fi to the customer's computer and mobile phone(s), to employees logged into the account. A scientific report supports this irrefutable evidence, which allows the cleaning costs to be charged to the culprit. In this way, the costs of monitoring are amply covered and the customer can count on additional turnover.

In addition to the aforementioned proof, Green Bull Company provides special training for customer employees so that they can confront the smoking guest with the offence in a guest-friendly yet clear manner. In addition to training and support, there is also the option of taking the installation of detectors completely out of your hands.
