Stripe, a financial infrastructure platform for businesses, today announced that it will become the primary global payments partner for Accor - one of the world's largest hospitality companies with more than 40 hotel brands at 5,600 locations in over 110 countries.
Until recently, Accor used multiple payment gateways from different providers. But Accor had the ambition to build a comprehensive e-commerce platform offering not only rooms, but also wellness facilities, restaurants and even unique experiences. Therefore, it was looking for ways to consolidate payments to simplify the booking process. It also wanted a reallocation of resources, based on the products and services selected by guests. With Stripe, Accor is implementing one centralised system for online bookings across all hotels.
Accor benefited from a significant net conversion increase in the checkout of prepaid bookings on its e-commerce channels immediately after integrating with Stripe compared to previous systems. It has resulted in noticeable revenue increases at the hotel level.
"This partnership transforms the payment experience for both the hotel and guest and enables the widespread deployment of new payment methods," said Jean Noël Lau Keng Lun, senior vice president of product management at Accor. "This improves conversion rates and also creates new business opportunities."
"Anyone who has ever booked a hotel room knows the frustration when payment doesn't go the way it should," says Eileen O'Mara, chief revenue officer at Stripe. "Accor puts guests at the heart of its payment experience. "And we are delighted to play a role in this strategy that benefits both hotels and their customers."
