Not knowing what to expect, Martin Groenewege decided to quit his job in design projects in 2008 to go into business for himself. As director and owner of Tachup, he has now been realising beautiful interior design projects for more than 200 clients across Europe for 15 years. Groenewege talks about what his company has achieved in recent years and why Tachup wants to continue collaborating.
Tachup started as a one-man business and over the years has grown into a network of partners. Whereas Groenewege does everything himself in the business field, he works closely and transparently with his associates in the creative field. "I have a circle around me with specialists: photographers, architects, artists and a number of producers. With every project, these partners come together in a funnel. Everything has to be in sync then. I have refined that art in recent years," Groenewege says.
"By combining specialities, we try to make every client happy," he says. In this way, Tachup contributes to the entire process from interior design to brand perception. "We think along in the complete process, as an extension of the organisation," Groenewege said. From his background in marketing and printing, Groenewege has specialised with Tachup in photo wallpaper, wall decoration and advice in brand perception. In 15 years, Tachup has become an established name in decoration and interior design projects.
Over the years, Tachup has gone on to work for multiple sectors. With many collaborations in the leisure industry, advice on brand perception is high on the agenda. "We take entire projects by the hand and sit down with all parties involved," he says. Not without success, as this approach has resulted in many loyal customers. "The people who appreciate our way of working stick around. Our unvarnished opinion in the process can be of great value."
"We have learnt to sense whether something is a right match or what the correct way of working is," says Groenewege. The loyal customers have created a network of partners and producers that fit seamlessly together. "Price, quality, material, timeframe, it all has to go right for the best end result," he says. After all these years, Tachup still enjoys working together, says Groenewege: "It's a matter of give and take, granting each other something and using each other for everyone's benefit in the future."
In wall decoration and photo wallpaper, Groenewege obviously sees many changes in wall decoration and photo wallpaper in the use of materials. "In the first few years, we printed and delivered thousands of canvases. Nowadays, it's all allowed to be a bit fancier." He sees this reflected in the choice of materials. "Customers not only want decoration but also something that integrates into the interior. So we work more and more with photo wallpaper and table printing. The quality of the materials chosen increases over the years."
Eye for the future
Tachup is growing with these changes and sees many opportunities. "We want to communicate to customers that the look and feel has a big impact on guests' experience," he says. Tachup's playing field is getting bigger and bigger, says Groenewege. That's why the company wants to establish more and more collaborations in the hotel industry. "It is easy to gather information about the possibilities of photo wallpaper or wall decoration," Groenewege says. According to him, there are therefore many possibilities. "At Paleis Het Loo, for instance, we have even fitted table tops with a print. Countless holiday homes have also been fitted with suitable wall decorations. Whether customers have a design or not, we can always contribute to working out
of interior design ideas."
