As a hospitality venue, investing in ambience and branding? A good choice, especially if you opt for a look and feel that is your own. Wall decoration and photo wallpaper are helping ingredients, to ensure that your house style comes into its own throughout the building. Hotelvak spoke to Martin Groenewege of Tachup Deco Projects about trends and developments in photo wallpaper and wall decoration.
"We at Tachup work with an architect or project designer to renovate or completely refurbish a hotel room. We match the colour scheme, theme and materials an architect has in mind." explains Groenewege.
"As a hotel, you want to make your guests feel welcome. You achieve the best results if you manage to exude this from the front door to the back door. There are many hotels adopting trends from each other. For example, choosing the colour combinations purple, gold and green. Trends are often short-lived. It is the hotels that dare to go for original and daring that benefit the longest. To create that unique house style, we work with photographers and designers if required. This allows us to bring many materials and printing techniques together," states Groenewege.
If a client wants wallpaper for a project, Tachup thinks along with them. "For example, we advise which wallpaper is suitable for the project. For example, is this wallpaper washable, how hygienic is it, can you maintain it, does it have a high tear rating?" lists Groenewege.
"We also advise customers on printing technology. Sustainability is something we are working on in different ways. For example, we use eco-ink. This is environmentally-friendly ink that causes less impact on the environment. We also pay close attention to the production process and the materials we use. If we use wood, we look at how the producer handles residual material, how it is transported to the producer and what kind of wood is used."
"Industrial spaces with many open structures quickly face an acoustic problem. Wall decoration offers a suitable solution to this. There are various acoustic-damping materials that are incorporated into a frame and supplied with a suitable cloth on textile. Another visible trend: decoration made up of different materials. Graphic prints are also now widely used as decoration. "We are increasingly called in for renovation projects. This often involves a number of details being tackled. Think of installing bed walls in rooms, which determine the whole atmosphere. Because we decorate rooms professionally and in a short space of time, this also provides convenience and time savings for the hotel." says Groenewege.
"On a small budget, you can save money to still decorate rooms. Think about material choice and choose a standard format. Prefer not to work too much with full-colour prints as well as images. Less is more. It is nicer to add one 'wow' detail somewhere in the room than to decorate the whole room. You can also apply your look and feel to the shower area. Install a combination of three walls of tiles, with the fourth wall being in full-colour print. A unique experience for your guests that will make them not easily forget the hotel room." concludes Groenewege.
