ETC Design Center Europe in Culemborg is a leading platform for the interior and hospitality sector. Hotelvak got to know several exhibitors whose products focus on the hospitality sector. Global Green, Umo Art & Design and Our Showroom.nl.
Global Green's stand features three sustainable and innovative brands, under the Sustainable Luxury banner. Nathalie Falkenburg, co-owner of Clochard Fabrics, says: "If you are looking for something unique for your projects, come along and discover our innovative and sustainable products." According to Falkenburg, Sustainable Luxury stands out for its conscious choice of recycled materials, fabrics and furniture.
"Clochard Fabrics is a pioneer in the transition to using recycled materials. In doing so, we do not compromise on quality and aesthetics. Our recycled upholstery fabrics are created from 100% recycled textiles, therefore our carbon footprint is minuscule. Our offering includes a wide selection of upholstery fabrics, curtain fabrics and rugs."
Global Green believes in a future where sustainability is at the forefront of every decision. "The brand's mission is to provide innovative, eco-friendly materials. Some examples include leathers made from a fish skin, rattan and webbing (reusing cotton plant stem and plant leaf) and a unique weaving material made from natural straw."
Sustainable Luxury's third pillar is Prime Old Wood. "This brand creates furniture and flooring from wood with a rich history. These 'statement pieces' are made using centuries-old woodworking techniques. Prime Old Wood selects wood species with a unique history and patina. Like the rare bog oak, with a dark colour and texture thanks to centuries of maturing in bogs. "Prime Old Wood's tables are already regularly used in the hospitality industry. The floors are also finding their way into hotels, even Dubai in collaboration with Heywood."
Umo Art & Design is the company of Maurits Pit. "When I left the army after an accident, I started printing photos on canvas. For this, I worked with Fletcher hotels, among others. They were looking for art to create atmosphere and unity. Photographs from the hotels' surroundings were used for this." After selling his first company, Maurits joined Fletcher, but he had bigger ambitions. "I felt there was a need for slightly more luxurious art, so I started offering photos on plexiglass myself. Later, timeless abstract artworks were added. This style suits diverse interiors even better. They look good in hotels and restaurants, but are also sold in interior design shops. I call it art on repeat, because you can still order an artwork from a year ago, but it will be recreated by the artist." Umo's artworks match the hotel's style. "Our artworks don't have to draw attention, but are the connecting factor in the interior. That's why, for example, we use spot colours favoured by major furniture brands, such as Minotti." Within fixed concepts, hotels can completely customise the art, in terms of size, colour and style. "You won't find this anywhere, especially not this affordable. Different materials are also possible, each with a very unique look. For example, we offer velour cloth, with or without acoustic backing. This material is fire-retardant and easily replaceable." Additional advantage: hotels can also sell the art to their guests.
Space in a hotel is expensive, so you need to use it as efficiently as possible. One way to do this is with the gaming tables from Our Showroom.nl. Owner Harjen Wolters: "We supply exclusive gaming tables from sustainable European brands, for example for billiards, table tennis and poker. These are tables that do not look out of place in a stylish room and whose tabletops can be turned, for example, to switch between regular table and gaming table. Ideal for meeting rooms, where relaxation is welcome during breaks." The wholesaler started with standard products, and still supplies them, but is increasingly seeking the custom-made market. "The tables can be put together as the customer wants. Yet delivery times are favourable because we work with European partners." Do you want a discreet gaming table? Or rather a football table or table tennis table? "Our football table is at Van der Valk, but we also offer solutions for smaller boutique hotels. Wherever people recreate, our tables are in place. Put a nice table in the lobby or lounge, for example. Fully wrapping is possible, as is applying a logo." OurShowroom.co.uk offers tables for indoors, but also for outdoors. "Of course not the unwieldy concrete table tennis table, but with a chic look that suits the hotel."
