More and more hotels are consciously choosing attractive terrace planting, entrances or roof terraces that match the overall ambience. After all, the experience on the outside is the first impression made by guests and passers-by.
Specialist Upperbloom has the right knowledge and experience to develop a well-kept outdoor terrace. According to co-owner Sam van der Zanden, imagination and the right materials are enough to create the right garden feel. "With our exclusive outdoor planting service for the hospitality industry, we operate throughout the Netherlands. The fact that we work exclusively for the hospitality industry makes us unique. With our products and services, we give every terrace the right value and look to match the trend of the outdoor season."
Over the past three years, Upperbloom managed to attract many clients. From exclusive hotels to renowned chains. "Every assignment is customised," Van der Zanden explains. "We do each assignment with care and in an innovative way. Right from the intake, we give advice on what kind of planting best suits the style and overall arrangement. There's more to that than many people realise. Because owners often have no idea about the right plants themselves, we work with 3D visualisations. This allows us to show the plants in different types of smart planters, in a recreated setting of the client. This helps the client in imaging and during the further process. We explain the concept and they can react to it."
Upperbloom offers the option of opting for planting in modular planters fitted with special inner containers made of 100 per cent recycled plastic. "These are designed so that plants can grow optimally in them without daily care. The inner bins contain a reservoir of about eight litres of water including sensors. This makes it possible to monitor whether plants need water. Customers can choose from an aluminium, Corten steel, wood or plastic outdoor container. More and more customers are also choosing to have corporate colours and logos applied to our planters."
In Upperbloom's complete approach, convenience is paramount. If the season changes, so does the entrance or terrace. "We visit periodically for maintenance and to change the seasonal plant arrangements. Because anyone who has seasonal plants installed now will have a problem in six months' time. Healthy greenery is good for people. However, it is important to remove broken and/or spent plants in time. This does not mean getting rid of everything immediately. Many specimens are reused or processed into compost. The changing climate has extended the outdoor season by at least 1-2 months. It is therefore necessary, for example, to renew spring plants with the summer range. Furthermore, we pay close attention to trends. For example, bohemian or Mediterranean styles are extremely popular at the moment."
Some well-known hotel names where Upperbloom has now decorated the terraces include the Corendon Hotel in Badhoevedorp, the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, Van der Valk and Swissôtel. "We are proud of every collaboration. Our service fits well with the high quality of these hotels. An attractive terrace creates a powerful and well-kept appearance. After all, a good outdoor terrace is more than just attractive parasols plus tables and chairs. It is all about the overall picture. Other attractive, trendy elements and well-designed terrace planting are the icing on the cake. Our customers understand this and have since experienced it that way."
